When not dealing with her sister's insistence that she stop spending all her time online, Lara enjoys fabric crafts, and has even made several stuffed animals, which she adorns her room with (to the point of overloading). Still, she'd rather spend her time with her head in the clouds on the computer-- in fact, she and a few online friends have recently decided to join a group gaming session for an old-school computer game mysteriously fixed by the one guy who probably uses reddit way too much.

As the MAID of HOPE, Lara embodies the "support" role typical of video game archetypes quite well. Empathetic and intuitive, her powers give her a knack for cheering up others and rallying the troops, though it doesn't come without risks-- After a failed negotiation between Prospitian and Dersite agents leading to the assassination of the White Queen, she falls victim to the GrimDarkness, lost in the despair of being unable to complete her denizen's quest and becoming partially responsible for a sudden increase in power to the prototyped monsters running about. However, after being snapped out of it (and subsequently turned god-tier), she gains the strength to fight her denizen on the Land of Locks and Flowers rather than continuing her quest. Defeating the denizen proves beneficial in her pursuit of personal strength, and her brute-force adaptability allows her to participate in the final battle on Skaia.

  • Lara's original design was conceived in 2013, alongside Pennae. They were originally part of a doomed two-player session.
  • Her fetch modus, "1st Last", operates in a similar way to a game of Shiritori. The first letter of her desired item must correspond to the last letter of the item before it (though this is certainly a method that can be easily fudged.)

Toby is 15 human years old-- extra emphasis on HUMAN, because he's quite certain that the universe is secretly being run by a swarm of lizard people masquerading as humans. They've infiltrated human society, dabbling in everything from military weaponry to time-travel to delicious baking products. FIENDISH, he says! Unfortunately, he lives alone, and doesn't really have any frame of reference for what behavior is normal or socially acceptable. This usually makes others sympathetic, for better or worse. When he's not wasting his time on forums or trying to escape the isolation of his private island home, he pursues a hobby as a webcomic artist, gaining an inadvisable amount of notoriety after being shamelessly promoted by a friend whose grifting practices know no bounds.

As the SEER of DOOM, Toby was initially vindicated by the fact that many of his whacked-out conspiracy theories had some sort of roots in reality (flimsy though they may be.) His role in the game is quite understated at first, stemming from his self-doubt after a conversation with his denizen on the Land of Blocks and Sunlight where it was revealed that he must make his own planet uninhabitable to its current citzens. The conflict of interest between his fascination with doomsday and his fear of its realization is eventually nulled when he manages to cause an eclipse, throwing the land into a wild darkness, though only momentarily. After learning how to always find "another way out", his powers were realized and he ascended to god-tier, prepared and optimistic for the final battle on Skaia.

  • Toby's personality was formed after his sprite was made... sometimes, you really CAN judge a book by its cover.
  • Despite his less-than-stellar drawing skills, he still takes art quite seriously, and has been using a graphics tablet for several years.

Not too many people know ANYTHING about her, because she is often entrenched in so many different scams that she's adapted a hefty array of fake online personas. Her most profitable money-grubbing scheme is a subscription-based tarot reading service, which her mother taught her how to operate. Despite (or perhaps because of) her intense online presence in the form of her many aliases, she's actually quite an isolated person who encourages others to pursue their kinder-hearted passions-- provided they're one of the rare few close enough to get to know the person behind the screen. She's especially dedicated to ensuring no harm befalls one of her closest friends-- despite him not knowing she considers him such.

As the THIEF of TIME, Anna's role in the game is a major contribution to the creation of the genesis frog. However, her own session lacked a space player, leading her to believe for quite a long time that their timeline was doomed. She kept this fact to herself for a long while, only revealing the truth when it came time for the human and troll sessions to be merged. It was an incredibly hard-to-keep secret though, as she was partly responsible for the trolls discovering their session's existence to begin with. Despite her duplicitous nature, the lessons she learned in the Land of Smoke and Mirrors allow her to solidify the bonds of trust between herself and her friends and defeat her denizen in battle. With the timeskip allowed by ignoring her quest and the knowledge acquired from the troll session, she was able to quickly and easily ascend to god-tier for the final battle on Skaia.

  • Anna's design was originally made as a placeholder sprite for an old point-and-click project started in Adventure Game Studio (which never really got anywhere).
  • Despite her whimsical hippie aesthetic and impressive collection of healing crystals, she's still quite confident that magic is a hoax.
  • Due to inexplicable timeline shenanigans, her tarot site is interdimensionally popular.

Jack is 18 human years old, and despite being the oldest of the four in his online group of friends, he's quite young at heart. His father, often far away on travel excursions, encouraged him to pursue his passions... and by god, one of them is gardening. His house is more akin to a greenhouse, packed full of all of the plants he lovingly attends to. He's quite a busybody, always making sure he has something to do, a project to work on, a rosebush to water, a friend to look after... but sometimes, he enjoys sitting back and experiencing the world that existed before him. He's especially interested in sending old videogame files to his friends to be fixed, and he recently got a copy of one that looks especially promising, despite receiving it from a mysterious online stranger who was weirdly invested in his personal life.

As the HEIR of BLOOD, Jack is inherently prone to creating strong bonds, both in the friendship sense and the literal sense. He is the strongest connection between his three friends who join him in the game, and is pivotal in the merging of the human and troll sessions. He especially excels at discovering things in need of mending-- Perhaps the reason he was able to find the SBURB disc that would begin their session in the first place. His denizen-given quest in the Land of Sound and Bubbles was confusing at first; Shed the blood of another denizen. Eventually he is able to accomplish this goal, albeit passively, when discovering that his teammates could actively deny their quests and fight the denizen instead. With the odd workaround in place, he was able to ascend to god-tier and now awaits the chaos of the final battle in Skaia.

  • A really shitty animation was made back in 2019 of Jack playing the drums. You can watch it on youtube here.
  • His hair covers his face because I think it'd be funny to have a character whose eyes you only see at extreme moments in the story, sorta like Dave (or an anime kistune-me).

As a jadeblood, her responsibilities would typically entail preparing to nurture the mother grub upon adulthood-- but after her emergence from the trial caverns and subsequent years of adolescence, she quickly decided that she was unfit for the task, due to her difficulties in taking care of herself (alongside her constant memory problems). Despite her inabilities, she cares for others deeply, perhaps far more than any species genetically prone to violence should. Fortunately, she's been hearing nonstop jabber about a game that should supposedly rewrite Alternian history, if her moirail is to be believed...

As the ROGUE of SPACE, Siucra's role is one of the "key" leads in the creation of the genesis frog that creates the game's reward, as she is the player of space in her session. Her knowledge of ectobiology, however, is limited-- which indirectly results in the session merge between Alternia and Earth. After a frankly ridiculous amount of shenaniganry, she reaches her planet, the Land of Ink and Frogs. After consulting her denizen, her quest is revealed: She must use her powers to create a pathway for the four colors of ink to flow into their own rivers, or "cartridges", which will grant her the ability to create an advanced version of an alchemiter in a similar vein to a giant laserjet printer. Despite being a fighter, she chooses to proceed with the quest in an effort to avoid dying prematurely and dooming the session. After ascending to god-tier, she participates in the final battle on Skaia.

  • Her (unapproved) custodian is a hummingbird. She shouldn't really have one though.
  • She constantly writes sticky notes to remind herself of events both important and mundane, but her hive is such a mess that she always forgets where she put them.

As a typical mustardblood in possession of psionic powers, he's both innately tolerant to constant light exposure and extreme headaches. Though his kind are usually technologically adept before being sent to be engine batteries for the fleets of the Alternian empire, his interests in coding don't extend to biomechanics or ~ATH programming. Instead, he prefers to expand upon creations that already exist, which comes as a handy boon once he's introduced to the game that can rewrite alternia by his ex-kismesis. His lack of interest in concupiscent relationships make him especially at-risk when it comes to the approach of reproductive drones, though he doesn't mind offering advice to one of his teammates whose efforts to engage in various romances are kind of laughably pathetic.

As the SEER of VOID, his abilities extend in strange ways; Rather than being able to see the most fortuitous path like a certain canonical seer of light, he is able to see the least fortuitous path-- or rather, the actions he should avoid, rather than the actions he should do. This is only indirectly helpful for his role in the session, where his denizen in the Land of Bridges and Disco instructed him to repair the faultlines and fractures that necessitated the planet's structure in the first place. Though his powers are passive and hard to understand at first, he is eventually able to use them to fill in the voids and return the planet to its original pangaea-esque state, giving him the boost in power he needed to ascend to god-tier and participate in the final battle in Skaia.

  • His custodian is a bat, which inspired him to use echolocation as his fetch modus-- therefore, he is only able to identify the items in his sylladex through their shadowy outlines.
  • His shirt is singed at the bottom as the result of an old accidental outburst of psionic energy, but he thinks it looks cool so he kept it that way.
  • His last name, "Jenzee", means exactly what you think it does.

As a rustblood, his lifespan is the shortest of his peers, and his fate on Alternia is almost inescapably relegated to that of being a soldier, a military pawn. Despite this, he takes pride in his position, almost to the point of posturing. His hive is a utilitarian underground base, where he engages in sparring sessions with robots scrapped together from the destroyed remnants of other lowbloods' drone-raptured hives. He'd gladly consider himself the strongest member of his group of associates-- if it weren't for the fact that he keeps having his ass kicked by an oblivious jadeblood who doesn't realize he's been hateflirting with her for the last sweep. Perhaps its because he lets his emotions cloud his judgment at the last minute. Or at least, that's what an annoyingly aloof highblood that he knows keeps insinuating...

As the MAGE of LIGHT, Thymos is blessed with surprisingly good luck; Perhaps that's the reason why he hasn't been eliminated by a routine drone culling yet. Still, his quest for strength never ends, which is why after entering the Land of Steel and Lightning, he kills his denizen without even realizing it was supposed to give him a quest... oops. Despite the boost to his position on the echeladder, this also causes his ascention to god-tier to take the longest. His land is nearly desolate and always rainy, making the consorts hide under the steel structures to avoid being swept away in mudslides, and his only true source of advancement is through fighting the various monsters that threaten the area. He has, on several occasions, invited his companions to meet him at the land for an ass-kicking, but nobody truly seems to take his threats seriously. That being said, he finds himself especially eager to participate in the final battle at Skaia.

  • His custodian is a mole, and it keeps accidentally making tunnel systems through his hive.
  • He was originally supposed to have flame powers (sick fires, one might say) due to lowbloods' slightly higher likelihoods of nonphysical powers, but they may not currently exist... or do they?

She prefers to spend her time with the lower castes, stealing away their treasures with her extraordinary gambling skills. These matters often lead her to be at odds with those who consider her behavior inappropriate for her blood type, and as such she has learned to keep everyone, enemies and allies alike, at arm's length. She's incredibly superstitious, and owes her success in games of chance to her dedication to the whims of the gods. Her instincts land her into trouble as often as they lead her out of it, but she suspects the tides of change may be in her favor after discovering a copy of a videogame that promises to alter reality... as long as she can convince the leader of a band of suckers to join her cause.

As the KNIGHT of LIFE, Pennae is no stranger to using herself as a bargaining chip in the darkest, direst of bets. Though seemingly reckless, she uses the most extreme of methods for her bluffs-- and it works. She's skilled at stacking the odds to her favor, prolonging her survival and success. This unflappable confidence (and a surprising amount of berserk strength) allow her to swiftly and efficiently kill her denizen on the Land of Vines and Patchwork. A significant amount of creative thinking (and a bit of merrymaking) lead her up the echeladder to god-tier, though her powers are primarily self-serving (as most things in her life are). Even so, she finds a small, secretive amount of comfort in knowing that she can use them alongside her companions in the final battle at Skaia.

  • Her custodian is a pelican, who horks up surprisingly useful items (and fishbones) when it returns from faraway flights. She doesn't see it often, as the waters she lives near are constantly overflowing with sludge.
  • The symbol on her shirt was originally three circles, the main alchemical symbol for oil. It is now an alternate version of the symbol that looks way cooler.
  • She holds a collection of lucky charms in her hive, including but not limited to four-leaf clovers, an upside-down horseshoe, and a voodoo doll.
