Welcome!

This page is for collections of things I like! People typically call them "shrines", but this might be a bit more hodgepodge than that. Basically, just a compilation of different things I like! It may include fictional characters, may include art pieces... anything really!

Since this is subject to change often, I'm making it more of an offshoot of my original site. To go back to the main page, just click the button in the upper left corner. It's kind of hard to miss. Also, to flip through the book, the arrows at the bottom corners of the pages will take you back and forth! They also make a neat page turning sound... ooh...

So what's on the menu right now?

Current pages are dedicated to the following subjects:

  1. Rio Mason Busujima (character, Hypnosis Mic)
  2. Samatoki/Ichiro (ship, Hypnosis Mic)
  3. 100% Orange Juice (videogame)
  4. Cooking Mama (videogame series)
  5. Live Shows (multimedia)
  6. Homestuck (webcomic & more)
  7. Wick/Candlestick (editor)
  8. WarioWare DIY (videogame)
  9. Neopets (virtual pet site)

Also, keep in mind that not only will this list expand over time, each shrine may have more content added too!

So stick around a while and read about the things I like :P

1. Rio Mason Busujima

RIO BELOVED!!! I hesitate to call myself a "yumejoshi" but like... How can you NOT appreciate this perfect specimen? Yes he does the cooking, yes he does the cleaning. He's a brick house with a calm demeanor and a gentle heart who has a kill count and will kill again if needed.

However, if you want the man with a voice like dark chocolate and a body like a godly vessel, you must make a noble sacrifice. By eating bugs.

So like, on the one hand: Fuck the military. On the other hand.... Heh.

2. Samatoki/Ichiro

And they were teammates!

Oh my god, they were teammates... until TDD split up and they got into a stupid predicament that turned them into enemies, anyway. But I'm a sucker for enemies-to-lovers, so this is basically that but with a ♥︎complicated backstory♥︎ for added flavor. One day these two are going to have THE most intense sloppy makeout session and nobody can stop them.

— A very smart crab.

3. 100% Orange Juice

A game of which I have over 200 hours logged in!

Even if I tend to get clowned on playing as Peat (approx. 27% game win rate) I still enjoy playing the funky little fella.

The base pack is dirt cheap on a normal day, but if you find it on sale on STEAM, you can get it for less than $2 USD. So what the heck are you waiting for?! Buy the dang game!

If you want to play a combination board game/deck builder/cutesy anime RPG, this is absolutely your best choice.

Also, all the DLC is optional, and there are no microtransactions or P2W features.

Please play this game with me. I need friends for it.

4. Cooking Mama

Specifically for the Nintendo DS!

Cooking Mama (especially the third entry, Shop & Chop) was a HUGE part of my childhood, and one that's incredibly hard to recreate. For my birthday last year, I had a friend gift me a physical cartridge of S&C so I could play it on the actual handheld console!

Aside from the basic nostalgia factor, there's a sort of innocence in the game that makes me yearn for the days where all I had to do was worry about getting my braces tightened. The aesthetic is extremely cutesy too, and the gameplay is great, though I wasn't as fond of the mechanics for the 3DS version (I'll still play it though...)

5. Live Shows

Okay so this is mostly about HypMic lives right now BUT I love watching live performances and stage plays and stuff.

I still want to watch the Haikyuu!! stage plays (because I've heard the choreo is good) and the Kuroko's Basketball stageplays (I never finished watching the first... HOWEVER.)

Dorks. All of them. Kaijou was always my favorite team and I remember loving the way Kise's stage play actor did a twirly jump-kick in the beginning of the first play (I also originally made my now-hiatused instagram to follow his stage play actor, who was super cute back then, eheheh.)

6. Homestuck

Oh gosh, how could I NOT mention one of my first true hyperfixations? Especially the one with my oldest OCs!

...and you can learn more about them in my OC gallery!

I got into Homestuck around 2011, and it was one of the first series I ever cosplayed from! (This was back when skype/IRC groups were popular. BTW, Pesterchum is real.)

Pictured: A young, naive, enthusiastic Neon in Sollux cosplay. Taken with a really crappy slide-phone camera at Chicago Comic Con, 2012. (Yes, the horns were model magic. And I was too scared to use Ben Nye... Unsealed body paint is no joke!)

I've currently been working on some Homestuck fangames too-- Some of them are already available to look at on my games page! I really need to re-read the comic at some point... which is a hefty task, but honestly some of the best experiences I've ever had stemmed from involvement with the fandom, and I'm eternally grateful for the experiences.

7. Wick/Candlestick

Did you know I do most of my game development with the Wick Editor? Or, more recently, its fork, Candlestick.

It's more likely than you think. I don't even like javascript that much (despite basically all my games using it) but the editor makes using it for games/animation SUPER easy. It helps that the layout is incredibly similar to the Flash UI... before it died, anyway. RIP to a real one.

Gone, but not forgotten.

...Anyway, try it out for yourself, if you want. It's easy!

8. WarioWare DIY

While I adore the entire WarioWare series, DIY has a special place in my heart because it allowed me to really try out gamedev for the first time.

Unfortunately, while the game was conceptually brilliant, it was released toward the very end of the original DS lifespan, and didn't have much time to gain traction. It also had online sharing capabilities through the (now defunct) Nintendo WiFi Connection, but fear not! A revival effort makes it possible to play the games on native cartridges!

9. Neopets

Oh, Neopets... what would the internet be without you?

A brief history of my account:

On August 26, 2002, a young Neon watched their siblings play on this cool new virtual pet site, and immediately decided to make an account too. Over 20 years later, the account is still alive and well!

Though I'm not very active on the site anymore (my poor pets are perpetually starving...) I still enjoy checking in on it from time to time. And you KNOW I'll be representing Krawk Island in the Altador Cup every year!

The Neopian Times, then and now

Yes, your local disaster was an artist for the Neopian Times! Neopets was one of the gateways into my obsession with comic art (and digital art in general) and I'm forever grateful that they took the godawful JPEG-compressed MSPaint doodles of a child with practically no developed sense of humor with some amount of gravity.
